An honor and a privilege are two words that came to mind after I interviewed Professor Hubler. Coming into this assignment I wasn’t sure if there was going to be anything positive to come out of it. However, about halfway into the interview with Professor Hubler I recognized how this interview could benefit me through my college experience and even later on when I have a career. I asked Professor Hubler several questions throughout our interview. All of his answers touched on points in which I needed to write this paper. What I learned from this interview, what surprised me, and what this interview made me think of my career plans all came into effect post-interview. What I learned from this interview was relevant to my life and my future plans. I interviewed Professor Hubler because he teaches business majors and I am a business major myself. I learned new things from each of the questions I asked him, but some of his answers had a bigger impact than others. For example, I asked him “For what purposes do you write?” He started his answer by saying he writes in order to inform his students on business topics and the main aspects of being a business major. But he also writes to self-inform himself on the stock market. He said that he likes to do some research on stocks and write a short paper to keep track of rising and declining stocks to help himself with investments. I found this to be very interesting and definitely advise to myself for the future. This interview was relevant to my life and future plans because of multiple answers Professor Hubler gave me, but that answer seemed the most important from what I learned. What surprised me from this interview was nothing out of the ordinary, better yet simple answers that I wouldn’t of saw coming. I asked Professor Hubler “What do you get out of the writing you do?” He told me he gets a mixture of things out of his writing pieces. He enjoys the fact that his informational pieces help teach his students on topics being discussed in class. He also gains knowledge for himself and his students from researching current topics in the business world, which he uses to put in affect for class discussions and his own benefit of the stock market. I thought it was interesting that a man that teaches business every day goes home to look up more information on the business world and of course investing into the stocks. That’s why I think it is great that he has such an interest in his job on and off of being on the job. This feedback that I got from Professor Hubler is what surprised me the most out of our interview. What this interview made me think about my future career plans didn’t change my mind, but it helped me gain advice on what to do when I begin a career. It was nothing that he directly taught me that gave me information on my future plans but what I picked up from what he said and the things that he does. I like how he is constantly involved in his job even after hours. I think it is very important to stay interested as a business major and to focus on multiple aspects of business. In business, when you look at the big picture, everything ties together. So when I begin a career I will think of the way Professor Hubler does things and put it into consideration. During my interview with Professor Hubler I had to ask him what the title of one research article he admires and why. He told me that he doesn’t really admire a certain article associated with business, but he told me about one that he recently read and he thought was intriguing. The article “As US Stock Market Climbs, IPO Finds Demand again” was the article Professor Hubler told me was a good one. So, after the interview I went to read this article and saw it discussed how the recent stock markets have been at the best positive correlation since 2008. The article also discussed how the demand for shares for the stock IPO has been aggressively high. It’s one of the best looking stocks currently and has high potential. From earlier in the interview I recognized Professor Hubler’s high interest in investing in stocks and wasn’t surprised when he told me this had his highest interest. What I learned, what surprised me, and what this interview made me think about my career plans all benefitted me. Professor Hubler gave me great answers that helped me write a good paper. I am very thankful for being able to interview Professor Hubler and I will take what he said with me in the future and definitely all throughout this semester. My interview with Professor Hubler was not only informational but also enjoyable for me and I am grateful that he gave me the opportunity to do so.
